The government shelter for children in Villingili reports two more kids positive to COVID-19.

As per the statement from the Ministry of Gender, although the condition of the two kids positive to COVID-19 is fine, they will be sent to an isolation facility with advice from Health Protection Agency (HPA).

The Ministry of Gender also ensured that the guidelines of HPA are followed at the orphanage, as there are a lot of kids living in the shelter. The Ministry of Gender also said that the measures have been taken inside the shelter to avoid spreading the virus and the directly contacted staff and kids are separated from the rest of the staff and kids inside the shelter.

Speaking at the recent press conference by the Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC), Dr. Nazla said that the positive cases were reported from the samples taken after two kids reported showing symptoms. After the recent positive cases, 89 people were found as direct contacts and four more samples were taken.

Dr. Nazla also said that 86 test samples were taken so far from the government shelter for kids and so far a total of 23 people were reported positive, including 11 staff and 11 kids from the shelter.

While the government shelter for children in Villingili has reported two more kids positive, the government shelter for children in Hulhumale’ has also reported one of its staff and 8 kids positive to COVID-19 recently.
