Minister Fayyaz has said that the Free Trade Agreements done during the former president will be affecting the relationship between the Maldives and other foreign countries.

For which, Former Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed accuses the current Economic Minister Fayyaz, of losing the chance for the Maldives to become a re-export hub by not acting on the Free Trade Agreement between China and Maldives.

Mohamed Saeed describes the government's conversations regarding the Free Trade Agreements between China and Maldives, as an act of irresponsibility.

Speaking to the media, Economic Minister Fayyaz has said that the Free Trade Agreement between China and Maldives will be affecting the trade agreements between other foreign countries. He further said that the parliament got only an hour to go through the 1000 page Free Trade Agreement submitted to the parliament during the former presidency, and most of the things agreed in it will affect the agreements between other foreign countries.

Minister Fayyaz further assured that he would not proceed to any such Free Trade Agreements, although he would continue discussions to improve it.
