As per the Tourism Ministry at the recent press conference, 16 guest houses have been permitted to re-open (today) the 15th of October. The state has initially set the date, 15th October to re-open the Guesthouses.

Speaking at the press conference, Senior Executive Director of the Tourism Ministry, Mr. Ali Razzan said that the ministry has already received SOP from 22 guest houses. He further said once the standard operating procedure (SOP) is submitted, it will be evaluated for the guidelines set before permitting for re-opening.

Razzan also said that the evaluations are done jointly with the island council and so far 16 guest houses have been permitted to re-open from the 22 applications.

Permitted 16 guest houses are in 9 islands. These include; K. Huraa, K. Maafushi, A.A MAthiveri, V. Thinadhoo, V Fulidhoo, Th. Gaadhiffushi, N. Foddhoo, Sh. Narudhoo, and H.Dh Hanimaadhoo.

Meanwhile, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said that a special permit will be required to travel to these islands, and wearing masks in public areas will be mandatory, following the re-opening of guest houses in these Islands.
