44 handwashing stations in 22 schools, established with help from UNICEF Maldives.

Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Ali together with Dr. M. Munir A. Safieldin, UNICEF Representative to the Maldives, has inaugurated the use of 44 handwashing stations in 22 schools through an e-ceremony held on Thursday, 15 October.



During this ceremony, UNICEF Representative handed over the supplies for Infection Prevention & Control of Covid-19 in schools to the Education Minister, and Two posters for the back to school campaign on hand hygiene was also launched in this ceremony.

The E-ceremony was held in celebration of Global Handwashing Day. Global Handwashing Day is an annual global advocacy day dedicated to advocating for handwashing with soap as an easy, effective, and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives. Global Handwashing Day is celebrated every year on October 15th.

Global Handwashing Day has never been more important than during a pandemic that could be stemmed, in part, by everyone taking hand hygiene seriously.
