A 34 year old Maldivian gets arrested last night, on suspicion to have taken part in terrorist activities in Syria.
In a tweet, Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed said that the 34-year-old man had arrived in the Maldives on Thursday 15th October and the individual is suspected to have taken part in terrorist activities in Syria. Hameed further stated that the arrested man appears on the potential list of Maldivian Foreign Terrorist Fighters (FTF).
Meanwhile, the President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has vouched to eliminate extremism acts leading to terrorism in the Maldives. From which a person was held for allegedly recruiting Maldivians for Foreign wars and terrorism.
As per the Counter-Terrorism Centre, so far 173 Maldivian have left for the Syrian war.
