Former Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Moosa Manik (Reeko) has praised President Nasheed’s efforts to overcome the crisis in neighboring Sri Lanka.

Praising President Nasheed in a tweet, Moosa Manik said that except for Nasheed, the rest of the local politicians are helping Sri Lanka in a manner of adding fuel to the fire. He also said no politicians in the Maldives except President Nasheed are trying to do anything good for Sri Lanka.

His comments come at a time when the Sri Lankan government has appointed President Nasheed as a senior envoy to assist the country in seeking foreign aid to overcome the current economic crisis.

Meanwhile, Nasheed has been highly criticized both locally and internationally for allegedly being in charge of making arrangements for Sri Lankan President Gotabhaya to seek asylum in the Maldives.

Moosa is usually well known for openly criticizing President Nasheed. He has been critical of President Nasheed, especially in connection with the internal conflicts of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
