President Gotabaya departed from the Maldives today morning.
He departed on Saudi Airlines flight SV788, to Singapore. The flight left the Maldives around 11:38 today.
The President fled to the Maldives last morning following the public uprising in Sri Lanka, demanding his resignation and that of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. He was expected to send his resignation yesterday as announced before.
But today morning Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena confirmed that he has yet to receive President Gotabaya’s resignation.
Following allegations of the President claiming asylum from Singapore, reports say he would hand in his resignation after reaching to Singapore.
