Customs employees will be provided with flats from government-built housing flats, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said tonight.
Speaking at the Customs Anniversary celebrations tonight, President Solih said the biggest concern of customs employees is housing. Hence, various efforts have been made to solve the problem but to date, it remains a major concern and complaint of the employees, he said.
"All the government projects are being implemented to provide basic services to the people. One of the most priority services is housing. We will arrange for customs employees to get flats from the housing flats being built by the government. President Solih said.
In addition, President Solih said it is important to establish health insurance for customs employees. This is included in the Customs Strategic Action Plan for 2020-2024, he said, adding that the government will find a way to do so. The President assured that the government will continue to do everything necessary to further strengthen the services of the customs.
"The government aims to strengthen customs services and find a solution to the drug, terrorism, and money laundering problems facing in the Maldives," President Solih said.
