Parliament member for Feydhoo, Mr. Mohamed Nihad says that only a toxic leader would differentiate the members from a political party.

MP Nihad’s statement comes following the loyalty card inaugurated by the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM). MP Nihad said that for people for whom money matters the most, cannot stop themselves from making money in any way.

Along with MP Nihad, Mr. Ali Niyaz, Deputy Chairperson of the ruling party MDP, has also raised his criticism towards the loyalty card introduced by PPM. Mr. Ali Niyaz has said that differentiating and leveling the members in a party does not make sense and loyalty within a political party should be maintained equally from the member to the political party.

The PPM loyalty card includes 4 tiers, Magenta, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Where all the members of the party can apply for Magenta, while Silver, Gold, and Platinum are targeted for members who can contribute financially to the Party.

Speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the loyalty card, the Vice President of PPM has said that the introduction of a loyalty card will benefit the party in its development and winning the next presidential elections. He further assured that there are many who have shown an interest to contribute and develop the party as well.

This is the first time a local party has introduced a loyalty card in the Maldives.

Meanwhile, a loyalty program/ a loyalty card is a marketing strategy designed to encourage customers to continue to shop at or use the services of a business associated with the program. By presenting a card, customers typically receive either a discount on the current purchase or allocation of points that they can use for future purchases/services.
