President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has extended well wishes to the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, for being elected to a second term of office.
In his tweet, President Solih has assured that although the geographical distance between the Maldives and New Zealand, both countries are close friends and New Zealand is a good partner to the Maldives. He further highlighted the commitment to continue working with the New Zealand government on issues of mutual importance.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern won a landslide victory in New Zealand's general election Saturday. Ardern's center-left Labour Party was on 49.2 percent and forecast to take around 64 seats in the 120-member parliament.
