The annual flag hoisting ceremony was held in all the inhabited islands on the occasion of this year’s National Day.
The President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih participated in the flag hoisting ceremony in Male’ City held at the Male’ City Republic Square at 0600 hours on the occasion of National Day, early on Sunday morning.
Along with President Solih, Vice President Faisal Naseem, Minister of Defense, Uza. Mariya Ahmed Didi, Minister of Home Affairs, Sheikh Imran Abdulla, and other senior government officials participated in the Flag hoisting ceremony held in Male’ City.
A special prayer was recited at the flag hoisting ceremony by Uz Nasrullah Ali, Imam of Masjid-al-Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu Al Auzam.
The annual flag hoisting ceremony in all the inhabited islands was held in Island council administration buildings.
Maldives national day is observed to celebrate the victory of Muhammad Thakurufaanu Al Auzam over the Portuguese occupation in the year 1573.
