The people have accepted the revolutionary development of President Ibrahim Mohamed Saleh, said the Minister of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof.

Mahloof made this statement following the Dhiggaru and Gaadhiffushi council by-election held today. The ruling party, MDP, won two seats at the by-election. MDPs candidate Abdullah Arif won the M. Dhiggaru council bi-election with 375 votes, while MDP candidate Zulaikha won Gaadhiffushi council women's seat with 210 votes.

Youth Minister Ahmed Mahlopf, who led the MDP in winning two by-election seats, said the election results showed that the people had accepted President Solih's revolutionary development. He also stated the election proved that the people calling the government a secular state, along with spreading obscenity and making many different accusations, are just for political purposes.

Mahloof has been seen as prominent in the by-election campaign. He has been leading the campaign, in these two islands as well.

Meanwhile, opposition leadership has also made efforts to win support for the party's candidates contesting the by-elections. The opposition team, led by PNC President Abdul Raheem Abdullah. Before the election, former President Yameen also gave a video message asking the people to vote for the opposition candidates.
