The World Health Organization (WHO) has appointed Dr. Ahmed Jamsheed as the new envoy to North Korea.

For this position, Dr. Jamsheed was appointed on the 3rd of this month. Before that, Dr. Jamsheed was the WHO Deputy Representative to Bangladesh.

As per the WHO website, Jamsheed joined the WHO Regional Office for Southeast Asia in the year 2013. He then took over as the regional Advisor in 2015.

Introducing Jamsheed as the new envoy to North Korea, WHO highly appreciated his work and experience of Jamsheed. WHO noted that under Jamsheed's leadership, the region has achieved great success in disease control.

Dr. Jamsheed worked in the field of public health for 16 years, and he served as the Minister of Health of Maldives from 2012 to 2013.

Dr. Jamsheed was appointed as the interim WHO representative to North Korea on 2019.
