The Election Commission of the Maldives has allocated a budget of 120 million MVR for next year's presidential election in the Maldives.
Election Commission Secretary General Hassan Zakaria told state media that the budget has now been prepared. The budget was prepared in consultation with the Finance Ministry and other relevant agencies, said Zakariya.
Zakaria said the estimated cost of the presidential election is 120 million MVR. The election commission has also fixed the budget after considering the possibility of holding two rounds of elections, he said. According to Elections Commission, a budget of 95 million MVR is required for the first round of the election and 25 million MVR for the second round.
Zakaria said the Election Commission will send the budget to the Finance Ministry to finalize it.
