The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has raised concerns over the delay in salvaging the Thila-Male’ Bridge platform which collapsed on the Villimale' reef.

EPA Director General Ibrahim Naeem told local media that the dredging of the platform has been completed on Saturday,12 days after it went ashore. However, the area has not been cleaned and the iron rods have not been removed yet.

Naeem also said that unless the area is cleaned completely, the EPA cannot look for all the damages to the coast caused by the platform which collapsed on the Villimale' reef.

Thila-Male’ bridge platform collapsed on Villimale reef on August 16. India's Afcons Infrastructure Limited, which is working on the Thila-Male’ Bridge announced the initial delay in dredging the platform, due to bad weather.
