India and Sri Lankan news media report the arrival of US Secretary of State, Mr. Mike Pompeo, to the Maldives.
If he arrives in the Maldives, he would also be the first US diplomat to arrive in the Maldives in recent times.
As per the information received, Mr. Mike Pompeo will be traveling to the Maldives and Sri Lanka as well. But the Foreign Ministry of Maldives and the government of the US have not published any information yet, regarding the arrival of Mr. Mike Pompeo.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister of the Maldives, Mr. Abdulla Shahid, has met the US Secretary of State, Mr. Mike Pompeo, during his visit to the US in July 2020, and discussions were held between them.
