Prosecutor General (PG) has decided not to press charges against the corruption and fraud in connection with the ventilator procurement in response to the Covid-19.
As per the PG office, due to lack of evidence for fraud and corruption involved in the ventilator's appointment, it has been decided not to press charges against the 11 officials from the Health Ministry.
Upon investigation, the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has requested the PG Office to press charges for 11 people on the 75 ventilators procured through a Dubai company, against the financial law and procedures. This request was sent on the 14th of October from ACC to the PG office.
As per the ACC investigation from the COVID-19 related audit by the Health Ministry has paid 90 percent of the total payment, to the Dubai company as an advance, without obtaining an advance guarantee or a performance guarantee.
Meanwhile, some of the parliament members and PG office have raised concerns and questions against the investigations of ACC for lacking evidence.
