Health Minister Abdulla Ameen sends his resignation to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

As per the information received, Ameen has sent his resignation from the designation as the Health Minister on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, MDP parliamentarians have signed and submitted a petition for a No-confidence motion against the Health Minister Ameen to the parliament, allegations in connection to the ventilators procurement for the Covid response.

As per the resignation letter sent from Ameen to the President, his reason for the resignation was false accusation on him and political pressure towards him through the false accusations. Ameen has said that referring to the situation, it is better for him to resign.

He also highlighted that he was happy to serve the Nation during the Covid-19 pandemic response work as the Health Minister.

A while ago, the President's Office confirmed the resignation of Health Minister Ameen from his position as well.

Meanwhile, due to the investigations held by the ACC, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assigned Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Mr. Mohamed Aslam as acting Minister of Health, since the 18th of August.
