The spokesperson of the President's Office, Miuvaan Mohamed has stated that the previous government's water supply and sewerage system projects were done in name only.

Speaking on Raajje TV last night, Miuvaan said that even though the previous government had stated that they established the water supply and sewerage systems, they did it only nominally for the elections.

Miuvaan stated that when the current government took office, most islands of the Maldives did not have water and sewerage systems. And that the government believes the people of the islands, too, deserve water and sewerage systems.

Miuvaan added that in the budget projected for next year, 567 million MVR has been allocated for the completion of water supply and sewerage system projects and so all projects will be completed before the end of this term.

To bring an end to Maldivian citizens bathing in unclean water, establishing clean water supply and sewerage systems in all islands of the country is a campaign promise of president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
