The Indian company; AFCONS Infrastructure Limited, constructing the Thila-Male' bridge has been fined MVR 69.4 million.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has stated that they have fined AFCONS MVR 69.4 million. They were fined for the damage to the Villingili reef caused when the platform used for the construction of the Thila-Male' bridge ran into it.
Both EPA and AFCONS surveyed the damage to the reef after the incident.
However, the survey's conclusion following the incident has not been officially declared.
