Former MDP Chairman and former Vice-President of the Parliament Moosa Manik (Reeko) has said that the MDP has a future if it remains united.

Reeko made the statement while speaking at state media last night.

He said that it is very important to have a party in power and the hard work of different parties to come to power is proof of that. If the MDP wants to win the upcoming elections, it is important that the party members remain united, he said.

"It is important today to keep our party united. Otherwise, there is no future for the MDP,” said Reeko Moosa Manik.

Reeko reassured that he would do whatever he could to unite the party and that he would also meet with President Nasheed. If he wants to be a ‘king maker’, he still can but will ask him not to work with others, he said.

Former MDP Chairman and former Vice-President of the Parliament Moosa Manik (Reeko) re-joined the current governing party, MDP, a week ago.
