Chairperson of the Budget Committee and Member of Parliament for Kin'bidhoo constituency Ahmed Nashiz has stated that with the fiscal and economic developments of the state, he is confident that the budgeted projects can be managed.

Nashiz said this today while presenting the Budget Committee's report to the floor of the Parliament.

Presenting the report, Nashiz said that the biggest aim of the government with the budget is providing the people with "Jazeera living". He noted that fulfilling the President's vows are a great priority for the budget.

Nashiz said that infrastructure projects are a priority in the budget and that he is confident that they can be accomplished.

"In the committee stage, MVR 124 million was added for PSIP (Public Sector Investment Program). The budget for next year now has MVR 8.5 billion for infrastructure development projects," Nashiz said.

Nashiz said that with PSIP projects, the islands will get development in different areas. And that the income of the citizens of these islands will rise too as a result.

"This will be a budget with which much development work can be done. A budget that will increase economic activity and raise income levels," said Nashiz.

Nashiz said that the only work of the Budget Committee is not just deciding what the budget should be spent on. Instead, the proposed sources of income for the state should be supported too.

"Let go of stubborn defiance and support the state with forward-thinking. We have to make decisions which benefit the citizens," said Nashiz.

Nashiz stated that with the addition of MVR 160 million in the Budget Committee, the total amount of the budget has now been raised to MVR 42.8 billion. He said that along with the budget, 11 recommendations were proposed to the government. Included in that are ensuring the amount getting from aid, lowering expenses, changing subsidy principles and getting unpaid tax money.
