Police made 41 arrest at cycle rally
Opposition has called for the release of detained youth from the rally without any conditions.

Police stops the cycle rally held against the slavery and arrested 41 of its participants after several warnings. While police tried to stop, the participants have still continued tha rally without the cycles. But still they were stopped by police.

Opposition parties PPM and PNC released a statement in regards to the arrest made at the cycle rally and condemned the action taken. The statement mentioned that the cycle rally was planned in accordance to the HPA guidelines and it was a peaceful rally planned by the youth. It also mentioned how concerning they were for the actions taken in order to stop a peaceful rally.

The arrest made at the cycle rally involves a lot of females as per the information received. Hence the opposition party calls the government to release them as soon as possible. Opposition also calls the government not to stop peaceful protests against Maldives going to slavery, and to stop shuting of the the constitutional right to freedom of assembly and freedom of expression.

Opposition also informed that they will provide support of lawyers to the detainees for free of charge.
