Health Minister Abdulla Nazim has emphasized the need for structural improvements to enhance the country’s healthcare system, stating that strengthening infrastructure is key to delivering quality health services.

Speaking at a ceremony to hand over contracts for healthcare development projects in 10 islands, Minister Nazim highlighted the urgent need to upgrade rural health facilities, many of which continue to operate in outdated and deteriorating buildings.

As part of the government's ongoing efforts, contracts were awarded to companies for the construction of health centers in Baa Kudarikilu, Gaafu Alifu Kanduhulhudhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Nadella, Haa Dhaalu Naivaadhoo, and Shaviyani Funadhoo. Additionally, new hospitals will be developed in Shaviyani. Milandhoo, Kaafu Thulusdhoo, Alifu Alifu Rasdhoo, and Noonu Velidhoo.

Minister Nazim reiterated the government’s commitment, under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s leadership, to improving healthcare facilities nationwide, particularly in rural areas. He expressed confidence that these development projects would significantly change the country’s health sector.

Ensuring high-quality healthcare services across all regions remains a key policy priority for the administration, with ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing medical infrastructure and accessibility.
