First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has emphasized the need for both awareness and accessibility to healthy food options, urging food outlets and vendors to support positive lifestyle choices.

She made the remarks while inaugurating the Dhulhaheyo Dhiriulhun, Ufaaveri Mujuthamau preventive healthcare campaign in K. Guraidhoo.

The First Lady highlighted that while information about Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) is widely shared, the underlying social factors contributing to such conditions must also be addressed. She stressed that promoting physical activity should go hand in hand with allocating time for it in daily routines.

Calling for a nationwide effort to combat the health risks associated with poor diet and lifestyle choices, the First Lady said adopting healthy habits is key to a happy and fulfilling life. She also noted that Islam encourages good health and wholesome consumption, adding that an active and balanced lifestyle would help sustain the Maldives as a healthy nation.

The Dhulhaheyo Dhiriulhun, Ufaaveri Mujuthamau campaign aims to promote sustainable public health activities across all islands, targeting children, youth, women, and the elderly. Three awards, the Rashu Award, School Award, and Jamiyyaa Award, have been introduced to recognize contributions to public health promotion.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, MP for Maafushi constituency Hussain Riza Adam, senior officials from the ministry, and Guraidhoo residents.
