MNP vice president Ahmed Shareef has stated that presidential vows are not things to be fulfilled by putting the citizens in debt.

Referring to the Spokesperson saying that the government coalition manifesto does not have anything about a vote to change the governance system, Shareef said that the constitution does not speak about running a coalition government and dividing the state between coalition partners either.

Shareef said that presidential vows are not things to be fulfilled by making the citizens indebted to neighbours. And that they are things to be fulfilled by doing work and getting money.

"The constitution does not have anything about running a coalition government and dividing the state between coalition partners. Vows are not things to be fulfilled by making citizens indebted to neighbours. They are things to be fulfilled by doing work and earning money," said Shareef.

Currently the hottest topic in the political landscape is the internal division of MDP. While party president Nasheed's faction is working to change the governance system of the nation to a parliamentary system, those who support the government are working to help President Solih secure the MDP ticket and be elected for a second term.
