Higher Education Minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan has stated that honour and respect are things that cannot be bought with money.

The Minister said this while speaking about the issue of fake certificates. He said that fake certificates are not things that can be obtained by using position and status.

Due to the prevalence of fake certificates in the country, the Qualification Authority has advised the public to be vigilant against it.

In a recent statement, the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) stated that higher education qualifications obtained abroad must be submitted to the MQA and validated by the authority and stamped. The Authority also stated that the various government institutions look for the qualifications validated by MQA when hiring.

However, MQA notes that while some qualifications are being disclosed in various ways without confirming that they are recognized by the Authority, these include those that cannot be recognized by the MQA for various reasons under its policies and even those that have been publicly declared as unrecognized by the Authority.

Therefore, the Maldives Qualification Authority has urged institutions and those who earn qualifications to pay special attention to these issues.
