Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has stated that the efforts to bring President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to power will be stopped after succeeding.
A rally was held last night to start the campaign for President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the MDP primary. Speaking at the rally which was attended by a large number of people, Shahid said he wanted peace in Maldives and a ruler who respected the law. He said he wanted a government that had room for people of different opinions.
Criticizing former President Yameen's government, Shahid said he did not want a government that would occupy the Parliament, throw MPs over the wall of the Parliament, and take the tin roofing from the Supreme Court and take the judges there to jail.
"We want to keep President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's patient and capable government. God-willing, we will finish this work with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in power again. We will strongly move forward with this," said Shahid, speaking with enthusiasm.
Shahid added that this work will be ended after keeping MDP rule for a long time.
The others who spoke in the rally in addition to Shahid also praised President Solih a lot in their speeches.
While the campaign for President Solih in the MDP primary has begun in full swing, members of former President Nasheed’s faction are filling out support forms. However, few seem to be involved in Nasheed's campaign work.
