US Secretary of State, Mr. Michael R. Pompeo, arrives in the Maldives on an official visit.
Mr. Michael Pompeo was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Abdulla Shahid, upon his arrival at Velana Airport on Wednesday afternoon. During his official five-day Asia trip, Mr. Michael Pompeo will be visiting four countries, including the Maldives.
This would be the highest-level visit by a US government official to the Maldives since the visit of US Secretary of State James Addison Baker III back on July 24, 1992.
Secretary Pompeo will also be calling on President H.E Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during this visit.
