Male’ City mayor, Shifa Ahmed, calls for action to be taken against the harassment received by the female taxi driver, Aminath Waheedha.

Mayor Shifa met Aminath Waheedha on Friday at Male’ City Council. Shifa inquired all about the harassment, violence, and challenges faced by Aminath Waheedha. Following the meeting, Shifa called Maldives Police Service to take actions against harassment, violence, and challenges faced by Aminath Waheedha.
Although Aminath Waheedha is the only female taxi driver currently in Male’ City, she has raised concerns over harassment received.
Recently her taxi was reported vandalized while it was parked outside the maafannu Thoiba Mosque, breaking its glasses from the incident. Police have been investigating the vandalization incident.
