President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The Chinese Embassy in Maldives said today that President Solih congratulated President Xi Jinping on his third term in office, in a congratulatory message sent yesterday.
In President Solih's message, he expressed his wish to further strengthen the close friendly relations between the two nations. And he also wished for the success of President Xi in honoring the confidence that the people of China have in him.
Xi, who took office in 2012, was given a third term after a 2018 amendment to the country's two-term presidential law.
Xi was elected President of the Republic and Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) with the unanimous votes of the nearly 3000 members of the National People's Congress (NPC).
