Ihavandhoo MP Mohamed Shifau stated today that STO Managing Director Hussain Amru cannot deliver the government's policies to the people and therefore his removal from office is necessary.

The President’s Office has made the decision to dismiss Amru from his post and has sent the order to PCB today. The decision comes amid widespread calls for his removal from office for working against the government alongside former President Mohamed Nasheed with his Fikurehge Dhirun movement, as a senior official of a government-owned company.

Speaking to Ras Online today, Ihavandhoo MP Mohamed Shifau said that Amru was the Managing Director of STO and a board member of the company to convey the policies of the government and the President to the people. Shifau said he does not believe Amru can convey the government's policies to the people after he starts going against the government's policies and starts to find an alternative, even though he is in office in name. In such a situation, the MP said the best way is for Amru to resign himself.

Shifau said if a person who does not accept the President's policy is entrusted with conveying his policy to the people, he will not be able to do so and in that situation, the ones who will be harmed are the people. Therefore, he said Amru's removal from office is necessary to provide STO's required services to the people in the best way possible, adding that the President should make the decision now.

"The President's order to remove Amru from the post of Managing Director of STO, I believe, is necessary to provide the services that the President wants to provide to the people through STO in the most efficient manner," said Shifau, who is in the faction of President Solih within MDP.

In addition to this, Shifau said that Amru's performance in his position was not bad. However, he said that Amru is in office to deliver government policy and if he cannot do that, there is no point in paying him a salary and keeping him in office.
