Vice President of Maldives National Party (MNP) Ahmed Shareef has stated that coalition partners should also bear the responsibility if the wrongs within the government are not corrected.

Shareef said this in response to Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) President Ahmed Faris Maumoon's claim that the government has not improved as much as expected.

Shareef said MRM is a partner in the ruling coalition and therefore the party cannot be absolved of its responsibilities. At the same time, Shareef said that JP, Adhaalath Party and Mohamed Nasheed should also be held responsible.

"If things don't improve within this government, it's not just Solih who should take responsibility," said Shareef.

Speaking on clubhouse, Faris said that there had been no satisfactory progress in the areas which the people were most concerned about. And that the three branches (legislative, executive and judicial) have also been infiltrated by political influence.

Faris said the government has not done enough to fight corruption. However, he said he had no intention of leaving the government coalition.

While Faris has said there are dissatisfactions with the government, MRM recently held a meeting with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to discuss working together in the upcoming presidential election.
