Isdhoo MP Ali Hameed has stated that there is no benefit in leaving MDP for MDP President and former President of Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed.

Speaking on a programme on Sangu TV, the Isdhoo MP who had recently joined MDP, said that the best course of action for the good of the nation is MDP President Mohamed Nasheed and MDP leader President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih joining together, preventing the splitting of the party. And that Nasheed gains no benefit by leaving MDP.

MP Hameed said that PPM's leader and former President of the country Maumoon Abdul Gayoom was expelled from his party due to internal conflicts during Yameen's presidency. And that Maumoon formed a new party afterwards but he had not gained any great political achievements since then.

"It doesn't seem that Nasheed will benefit much from leaving MDP and doing his own seperate political work, given the way things have gone in this country. Maumoon was expelled from PPM, did Maumoon accomplish anything great politically? Not yet. He haven't been able to reach such a goal," said Ali Hameed, who won the Isdhoo seat in the Parliament on Jumhooree Party's ticket.

After his defeat in the MDP presidential primary, Nasheed has been running a separate faction within MDP called "Fikurehge Dhirun".
