The Ministry of Health has announced the extension of the ongoing public health emergency for another month.

The statement released by the Health Ministry ordered the current state of public health emergency to be extended until December 5th.

The Maldives announced a state of public health emergency on March 12th. The first such declaration under a recent public health protection law. The current announcement will be extending the initial state of a public health emergency for the 8th time.
The statement is released following the advice of the Director-General of Public Health. The statement reads that the threat of a nationwide outbreak remains widespread and special measures are required to mitigate the threat in the Maldives for the health and safety of the people.

So far, Maldives has recorded a total of 11,893 positive cases and recovery of 11,010 infected people, and 38 deaths are recorded due to complications of Covid-19.
