Former Gender Minister Aneesa Ahmed has stated that sexual abuse survivors have finally started receiving justice.
Aneesa stated this following the 2018 sexual abuse case hears the final verdict to sentence the local artist to 15 years in prison for raping a young woman at an art studio. Aneesa said that the sexual abuse survivors have finally started receiving justice, and she hopes that they continue to receive justice.
The local artist Hassan Faiz (Jason) from G.Dh Thinadhoo, who was at that time working in an art studio in Male’ city, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping a young woman at an art studio. He was accused of luring the victim to the art studio to discuss a project before raping her.
As per the victim's statement given to the media, Hassan Faiz (Jason) offered the victim 16,000 MVR to stay silent.
The case investigation was concluded and forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office for charges in January 2018.
Hassan Faiz (Jason) is the younger brother of former Vilimale’ MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik.
