The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has eased COVID-19 restrictions, including pushing back curfew time in the greater Male’ area.
HPA announced the changes on Saturday, stating the new curfew time in greater Male’ from 00:00-04:00 hours, instead of 23:00-04:00 hours.
The announcement brings no further changes on banning public gatherings of more than 15 people in greater Male’, and anyone who travels from the greater Male’ area having to home quarantine.
HPA continues to advise all travelers mandatory to wear masks and to follow HPA’s guidelines.
In addition, HPA has lifted the ban on sporting activities. HPA has stated that although sports competitions will remain prohibited unless determined otherwise by the Youth Ministry, contact sports and outdoor sports are no longer restricted as long as HPA’s guidelines are followed. Along with this, HPA has permitted people to spectate sports, as long as they do not form crowds of more than 15 people.
HPA announcement further reads that the parks, museums, and other public locations have been permitted to reopen for the public following HPA’s guidelines. HPA allows any high-risk employees, who have been asked to work from home, to return to work from the office with necessary precautions.
Although the ease in restrictions comes following the decrease in COVID-19 cases recorded in the greater Male’ area, Maldives has 11,962 confirmed COVID-19 cases and recovery of a total of 11,066 infected people.
