The Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) is an example of what will happen to the "Fikuregge dhirun" faction of former President Mohamed Nasheed, says MP for Addu maradhoo constituency Ibrahim Shareef

Shareef said 50,000 people had signed up for the fikuregge dhirun and were shouting for an extraordinary congress to be held after forming branches. However, that did not happen either, and now they are saying, "Fikuregge dhirun will be a bigger party than the MDP".

Shareef said the MRM is an example of what will happen to the fikuregge dhirun in the future. After the 2024 elections, the fikuregge dhirun will become a party the size of the MRM, Shareef said.

Shareef said the fikuregge dhirun will revolve around former President Mohamed Nasheed as MRM revolves around former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.

Pointing at 12 members who resigned from MDP few days back, Shareef said even if they say that the "fikuregge dhirun" would be the second largest political party in Maldives, but it would not be easy.

He added that members who resigned from MDP would end up like a small party with a few MPs similar to PNC. He also added that they will lose many seats in the upcoming parliamentary election.
