There are no capable people in the opposition to manage the economy and the opposition parties cannot compete with the President’s team even if they come together says MP for Maradhoo constituency Ibrahim Shareef.

Shareef said the people's expectations are high as the economy is recovering from the slowdown caused by the coronavirus. Therefore, we need people who can manage the economy properly, he said, adding that the government of President Solih has proved that it can run the economy properly.

Shareef said the opposition parties would not be able to lead the economy through a strong policy.

Shareef said the people would not allow people who do not know how to manage the economy to run the country. The government should be run by people who have the ability to manage things despite all the pressures, he said.

He praised the government's economic progress while international financial institutions are also praising the Maldives economic progress.

According to the World Bank and IMF, the Maldives is one of the fastest growing economies in the region. The country's economic growth is expected to remain at 6 percent this year.
