Mr Shuaib Ali, member of the committee for penalising, in the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), asks President of the Maldives to fire the chairperson of the MDP Mr. Hassan Latheef in accusation of planning a coup against the president.
From a letter sent to the president, Mr Shuaib Ali mentioned that, while the president is running from a party’s ticket, the chairperson has not accepted him and avoided acting on the 75th point of the party’s fundamental regulations, which is clearly a start of a coup silently against the elected president from the party’s ticket.
Further in the letter, Mr Shuaib continues to mention that, chairperson of the MDP Mr. Hassan Latheef has addressed Mr Mohamed Nasheed as the leader of the party while the party’s fundamental regulations confirm on the 75th point that the highest leader of the party would be whoever is in the position of the President with the party ticket. This has created a lot of confusion within members and as long as Mr Hassan latheef, who also holds a responsible position at the parliament, does not follow the party’s policies and guidelines, clears that this coup is being planned within the party.
