Donald Trump said on Sunday that he will forego this week's Republican presidential debate, claiming that since the public already knows him well, there is no need for a public fight with his opponents for the White House.
In a post on his 'Truth Social', Trump bragged about his alleged stellar presidency and what he claimed his popularity among the American people.
"I will therefore not be doing the debates!” he said.
The first debate in the race for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination is scheduled for Wednesday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
In his message, Trump mentioned the most recent poll in a series that has consistently shown him far ahead of the Republican race, this one conducted by CBS News and released on Sunday.
Even though he has been charged four times this year, including for allegedly plotting to rig the 2020 election in order to retain power despite losing to Joe Biden, it was reported that 62 percent of people surveyed for the study would still support him.
