The Fourth Meeting of the High-level Core Group between the Maldives and India convened on May 3, 2024, in New Delhi. Hosted at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the discussions focused on reviewing existing bilateral cooperation and addressing a wide range of mutual interests, including development and defense collaboration.

According to the Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting, both countries expressed satisfaction over the progress of bilateral initiatives, particularly in defense cooperation. Notably, the Government of India pledged to replace military personnel stationed at the last of the three aviation platforms by May 10. Additionally, logistical arrangements were confirmed to be proceeding according to schedule, indicating the commitment of both nations to enhance their defense ties.

In addition to defense matters, the discussions also encompassed various areas of mutual interest and cooperation, reflecting the depth and breadth of the Maldives-India relationship. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties and fostering cooperation across multiple sectors.

Looking ahead, it was agreed that the fifth meeting of the High-Level Core Group will take place in Male', the capital of the Maldives, on a mutually agreeable date during June or July. This forthcoming meeting underscores the continued engagement and collaboration between the two nations as they work towards advancing their shared goals and interests.
