Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, will serve as the Special Envoy of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at the 15th session of the Islamic Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), commencing tomorrow.

Scheduled to address the summit in Banjul, The Gambia, Minister Shaheem will deliver remarks on behalf of President Muizzu. His speech will be broadcast on television, amplifying the Maldives' voice on the global Islamic stage.

The Islamic Summit of the OIC convenes once every three years, uniting leaders from Islamic nations to deliberate on key issues, make policy decisions, and provide guidance on matters concerning the Ummah, as outlined in the OIC Charter.

Under the theme "Enhancing Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue for Sustainable Development," the 15th Session of the Islamic Summit will take place from May 4 to May 5, 2024, in Banjul, The Gambia. It represents a significant opportunity for collaboration and cooperation among member states to foster unity, dialogue, and sustainable development within the Islamic world.
