As of May 11 this year, the Maldives has seen a significant surge in tourism, with a total of 822,723 tourists gracing its pristine shores. This marks an impressive 11.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the Ministry of Tourism.

On average, the Maldives now hosts approximately 6,233 tourists daily, with visitors typically enjoying a relaxing stay of seven days. The nation's appeal as a top-tier tourist destination continues to attract travelers from across the globe, contributing to its thriving tourism industry.

China remains the leading source of tourists for the Maldives, followed closely by Russia and the United Kingdom. Despite its proximity, India currently ranks sixth in terms of tourist arrivals to the Maldives, showcasing the diverse international appeal of the archipelago.

With the tourism sector playing a vital role in the Maldives' economy, the government has set ambitious targets, aiming to welcome a total of 2.3 million tourists by the end of this year. This goal reflects the nation's commitment to further enhancing its position as a premier tourist destination in the region.
