Former CEO and Managing Director of MIFCO, Ahmed Samah Rasheed, has been appointed as the State Minister of Fisheries, less than a day after his dismissal from MIFCO by the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB).
Samah was removed from his position at MIFCO by the PCB on Tuesday evening, though no official reason for his dismissal was provided. During his tenure at MIFCO, Samah faced scrutiny as the PCB launched 12 cases against him, leading to his suspension in March. This suspension was lifted late last month.
Despite these challenges, Samah’s new appointment as State Minister of Fisheries follows swiftly on the heels of his departure from MIFCO. Currently, Samah is in Thailand, representing MIFCO at the 18th INFO Fish World Tuna Conference and Exhibition.
