Former Foreign Minister and President of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Abdullah Shahid, has expressed strong confidence in the party's ability to rebound after its recent losses in the presidential and parliamentary elections. In an exclusive interview with local media, Shahid disclosed that the MDP has begun preparing a comprehensive report to analyze the reasons for its electoral setbacks.

Shahid drew parallels to his own political experience, noting that after his defeat in 2013, he conducted an in-depth study that helped him strategize for and win the 2018 elections by implementing necessary changes within the party.

"Therefore, we are very confident that if we study the issues in the report and conduct the party in accordance with the wishes of the members, we will have no difficulty in achieving the right direction," Shahid stated.

During the MDP's National Assembly meeting on Monday night, it was announced that a roadmap has been developed to institutionalize the party as a robust institution. This roadmap aims to address past shortcomings, align the party's activities with member expectations, and set a clear path for future successes.
