Hussein Hameed, MP for Kudahuvadhoo constituency, has called for rigorous monitoring of the health status of individuals who have received the COVID-19 vaccine. His statement came during the debate on the Health Services Amendment Bill, introduced by Henveiru South MP Hussain Imran Lateef.

During his speech, MP Hameed highlighted concerns raised by various international agencies regarding the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine. He pointed out an increase in unexplained deaths and diseases in Maldives since the vaccine's introduction. "Unknown diseases and deaths are increasing. Many people are suddenly passing away, especially after receiving the vaccine during the global COVID-19 pandemic," Hameed said.

He emphasized the widespread administration of the Covishield vaccine in the Maldives. Developed by AstraZeneca in collaboration with Oxford University and produced by the Serum Institute of India, Covishield has faced legal scrutiny. AstraZeneca has admitted in a London High Court case that the vaccine can cause blood clots.

"The health status of those vaccinated should be monitored very closely. I know there will be few people who have not been vaccinated. It is crucial to identify the health conditions of all these individuals," Hameed urged.
