Today, the Maldives and the United States signed the fourteenth amendment to the Development Objective Grant Agreement (DOAG) in a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The amendment was executed by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sheryna Abdul Samad on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Maldives and USAID Mission Director Gabriel Grau on behalf of the Government of the United States of America.
The DOAG is a pivotal development cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing the Maldives' technical capacity in managing public finances and strengthening the nation's economic and democratic governance. Since its inception, the agreement has seen incremental increases in funding, reflecting the deepening partnership between the two countries.
With this latest amendment, the United States Government has pledged an additional USD 8.5 million, bringing the total value of the agreement to USD 45.7 million. This increase is set to further support the Maldives in advancing its development goals and improving resilience.
