January 8th, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) of the Maldives has reported 52 additional cases of Covid-19 within 24 hours.
The total positive cases recorded includes 11 people infected in the greater Male’ area and 41 people infected outside the greater Male’ area. This includes 34 people positive from operational resorts. Out of the 34 new cases from resorts, 32 are reported from Biyadhoo Island Resort.
With additional cases of the Covid-19, confirmed cases in the Maldives have increased up to 14,040 cases, including 704 active cases to Covid-19 recorded within the last 24 hours.
So far, HPA has taken 336,381 test samples for Covid-19, while HPA has taken 2,568 test samples within the last 24 hours.
HPA also reported that 41 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, which increases the total recoveries to 13,279.
According to HPA, there are 41 patients admitted to hospitals, and the Maldives has recorded 49 deaths from Covid-19 complications.
