The Ministry of Higher Education, Labor, and Skills Development has reassured the public that student loan payments will continue without interruption, following concerns about delays.
At a press conference held at the President's Office, officials emphasized the government's commitment to promptly disbursing loans amid public calls for faster processing.
The clarification came after reports in Maldivian newspapers suggested that some students had not yet received their loan payments. The ministry confirmed that over 1,300 students have been selected for loans this year, and all eligible recipients will receive their funds.
According to the ministry, more than MVR 473 million has already been disbursed to students in 2024.
To improve efficiency, the ministry is also developing a digital system to speed up the loan disbursement process and ensure smoother operations in the future.
